*Organizing Tips* Control Clutter * Control clutter with storage space that can be added with inexpensive shelves, file cabinets, bookcases and plastic containers.
* Throw away items you don’t use, like pens that no longer write, old computer disks, and scrap paper.
* Keep only the supplies you regularly use on your desk. Everything else can go in a drawer or container.
* Clear out your drawers and designate a purpose for each one. For example, one drawer can be for personal items, another for files, and a third for supplies.
* Sort your mail as soon as it arrives. Throw away junk mail, open and separate the rest of the mail into files labeled “bills”, “need to look through” or “immediate attention.”
* Promotional items are great. But it’s time to throw some away when you start to collect five mail openers, three paper clip holders and 20 pens.
* If you rely heavily on email communication, delete items that you no longer need and use the folders in your electronic mailbox to organize your email.
* Use letter trays and file sorters to avoid piles. Clearly label each tray so you can find information and documents quickly. Goal Setting Steps Step 1 – Assess where you currently are in life and where you want to be. Set a goal that states where you want to be in life. Make sure the goal is something you really want, not just something that sounds good. Develop goals in several areas of life such as Family, Career, Spiritual, Mental and Financial.
Step 2 – Write down your goals as a positive statement. This creates instructions for your subconscious mind to carry out. The more positive instructions you give it, the more positive results you will get. Make sure that your goal is detailed. The more information you give it, the clearer the final outcome becomes. Place your goal statement on a note card someplace where you will see it everyday.
Step 3 – Layout a master plan. Break down your goals down into smaller, do-able tasks and set deadlines. If you would like to grow spiritually, one of your smaller tasks could be to read one book per month on spiritual development. In one year, you would have read 12 books on a subject that really interests you in addition to gaining the self-confidence of reaching toward your goal.
Step 4 – Evaluate and adjust. Once you begin working toward your goals, evaluate and readjust your tasks. This will help you stay on track, and you will be able to see a clearer picture if you are not meeting certain goals.
